Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account email and name — to create and manage your account.
• Voice recordings — sent for transcription when you dictate a survey. The audio is not stored after transcription; only the transcript is kept with your survey.
• Photos — the tree photos you take, for species identification and report inclusion.
• GPS coordinates — the position of each tree pin. Location is only read while you use the app, never in the background.
• Survey content — measurements, categories, notes, and generated reports.
• Purchase state — your subscription status, so the app knows what you have paid for.
• Crash and usage data — anonymised, to find bugs and see which features get used.

Where it lives

All customer data is stored in EU-region Supabase (database, file storage, and authentication). Analytics (PostHog) and crash reporting (Sentry) are also configured for EU data residency.

Who else sees your data

• Pl@ntNet receives a tree photo only when you tap identify, and only to return species suggestions.
• Google Gemini (via Vercel AI Gateway) receives your voice audio only during transcription. It is not retained or used for training.
• Anthropic Claude receives the transcript of your voice note only to structure it into survey fields. It is not retained or used for training.
• RevenueCat processes purchase events so your subscription works across devices.

That is the whole list. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or let anyone train AI models on your surveys. There are no ads and no cross-app tracking.

Nothing goes to an AI service until you say so: the first time you use a voice or photo feature, the app shows exactly what will be sent and to whom, and asks your permission. If you decline, you can still add trees, photos, and notes by hand.

Your data is yours

Every survey, transcript, photo, and report is exportable from the app at any time. If your subscription lapses, your account drops to Read-Only Lite: everything you created stays viewable and exportable, forever.

Deletion

Delete your account in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. It removes your account, your organisation, and every survey in it, immediately. Prefer email? Write to support@treecanopy.app from your account address and we will do it within 30 days. You can also delete individual surveys, trees, and photos in the app at any time.
